  • A Unit Leader’s Guide with the policies and procedures for Safe Scouting activities. If you’re wondering how to carry out a Scouting activity safely, here’s the first place to look -- whether it’s as simple as a car trip to rifle shooting and more.
• How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse:  A Parent's Guide
  • This booklet is an insert in every Cub Scout and Boy Scout manual.  We encourage parents and guardians to review this material with their children.
• Guidelines for Scouting Activities to Protect Our Youth From Extremes of Heat and Cold
  • To protect our youth and staff, Gamehaven Council has created the following guidelines for use at all Council and District sponsored activities. Units are encouraged to adopt these same guidelines.

Forms

• Local Tour Permit
  • File this before taking youth on trips less than 500 miles from home. By properly filing this form, you are covered by the Boy Scout insurance policy.
• National Tour Permit
  • File this permit before taking youth on trips 500 miles or more from home, or to Canada or other foreign countries. By properly filing this form, you are covered by the Boy Scout insurance policy.  You may wish to use the National Tour Permit Online Assistant, to help fill out this form or look at some helpful additional information on this Safe Scouting web site on the Online Forms page
• Scout Leader Reference Check
  • This checklist is an aide to help phone references of a potential leader.
• Motor Vehicle Checklist
  • A checklist to inspect motor vehicles before taking Scouts on trips
• Meeting Place Inspection Checklist
  • A checklist to review the safety of the Unit meeting place
• Emergency Phone Number Sheet
  • A checklist to record the contact numbers needed during Scouting trips and activities

• Flying Permit Application
  • File this at least two weeks before official Boy Scouts flying activities (except for scheduled flights on commercial aircraft). Each youth must also have a signed consent form, below.
• Parent/Guardian Consent Form for BSA Aviation Flights
  • Each youth must have this form completed before an official Boy Scout flying activity (except for scheduled flights on commercial aircraft.
